Quarter Dots
Quarter Dots are a Big Dot cut into 4 quarters. (If you don't
know what Mary Lou's Big Dot fabric is all about,
click here to learn.) Quarter Dots can be
used to replace half-square triangles in traditional quilt
patterns (see the bear paw blocks, above).
Half Square Triangle --> Quarter Dot
The Challenge
Your challenge is to use Big Dot fabric to create a quilt
that would normally use half square triangles - and instead,
to replace those half-square triangles with Quarter Dots.
The image above shows an example of what a 'Bear Paw" quilt
block would look like if the half square triangles (claws)
are replaced with pastel Big Dots on a yellow background.
Details
To participate in the challenge, you simply need to use at
least 18 Big Dots (2 Fat Quarters) to make a quilt as described
above. A photograph of the quilt is used to enter the challenge,
not the quilt itself. You may photograph the quilt top before
it is quilted. |
Fabric
Any color Big Dots will do. You can use any other fabrics
from your stash in the quilt top. If you do not already have
Big Dot fabric, you can buy a Pastel
Challenge Pack or a Bright
Challenge Pack for $5.00. Each challenge pack contains
2 big dot fat quarters (18 dots)*.
